on Nov 20th, 2008Bach-Siloti

“Under the Lid” ( underlocket ) goes english!

I recently got my mind set on a small piece of Bach transcribed by Silotti or Siloti? It is a prelude i B-minor that is very simple and improvised in style. I liked it ver much much and got it, and now I try to play it.

One of the jury members at the Nordic Piano Competition played it beautifully on a rehersal but not in the concert. It was Nikita Fitenko, one of my new heros to admire.

What I wonder is, what is your favourite recording of this piece? I would like to listen more to it and be swept away.

On ITunes there are three recordings but none of them was of any interest for me. There is a Emile Giles version on Amazon though…

The music is not so complicated, quite transparent and meditative but still very appealing to my soul. The melody is a trigger for humming it rest of the day.

Pardon my Swinglese…. :-)

update: I found this today with Emile Gilels on youtube.

Enjoy!

    Hello!

The Bach/Siloti is a marvelous piece! Sokolov plays it like no-one else. You should check it out.

Could you send me your e-mail address? There is something I would like to ask your opinion about. We could then switch the language as well :)
